Baking Industry Influences National Policy at Capitol Hill Summit

Celebrate the power of grains with ABA in November during National Bread Month.
As an outcome of the White House’s Conference on Hunger Nutrition and Health, ABA is working with the White House and USDA teams to achieve and communicate the goal of health equity: All people always having access to nutritious food and beverages that meet the dietary needs for an active healthy life.
Enriched grains contain folic acid, a critical nutrient for brain and spinal cord development during pregnancy. During the month of January, ABA, with your partnership, encourages women of childbearing age to consume enriched grains to reduce the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs) in their babies through proper prenatal nutrition.
During National Nutrition Month®, communicate and educate consumers about the nutritional benefits of grain-based foods in daily life.
The baking industry is facing unprecedented supply chain hurdles and inflationary pressures across the board. Communicating this series of complicated problems is key. The baking industry and our other food sector partners must calmly and rationally explain the challenges and push for potential policy solutions.
