The baking industry is proud to employ veterans and military spouses from all branches of service. ABA, as part of the Baking Industry Alliance, partners with the USO Pathfinder® Transition program to help connect transitioning service members and military spouses with baking industry careers.
Our industry’s most important ingredient is the skilled workforce that consistently provides safe, nutritious, and delicious baked goods to America’s families.
The Baking Industry’s Frontline Workforce Landscape study, produced in 2020, studies commercial baking and supplier companies' investments in frontline workforce engagement and career development as well as the support of their local communities. Delivering on a key initiative from ABA’s Strategic Plan to promote and grow the baking industry, this study provides important data that reinforces the baking industry’s role as an essential manufacturing employer.
ABA, as part of the Baking Industry Alliance, created a straightforward document that baking industry companies can use at their recruitment events. It answers high-level questions such as: What is the baking industry? What sort of jobs are available? How many people work in the baking industry? Do I need previous experience to be in the baking industry?
The American Bakers Association (ABA) and the American Society of Baking (ASB) commissioned the Workforce Gap in U.S. Commercial Baking: Trends, Challenges and Solutions study to gain an understanding of the current and expected skills gap in the industry, and most importantly, what can be done to fill it.
