11-9-09 - FDA Issues 2009 FDA Food Code

The Food and Drug Administration announced the publication of a newly updated FDA Food Code. FDA notes that the model code and reference document provides a scientifically sound technical and legal basis for regulating the retail and food service segment of the food industry. The 2009 FDA Food Code is a key component of the President’s overall public-health-focused food safety framework for maintaining a safe food supply. The 2009 edition of the Food Code is the seventh full edition published by the FDA. The previous full edition was released in 2005 with a supplement published in 2007.

2009 ABA Legal Conference
September 16-17, in Washington, D.C.

The 2009 Annual Legal Committee Conference took place Sept. 15- 17, in Washington, DC. Part of the meeting was held in conjunction with the ABA Executive Leadership Development Committee (ELDC) Public Policy Forum, providing the committee with the opportunity to partake in advocacy preparation on key issues for bakers as well as participate in Congressional visits addressing bakers’ concerns on pending key legislation including health care, food safety and climate change.
